SALKANTAY – MACHUPICCHU 4D/3N
Salkantay is a mountain in Peru, located in the Cordillera Vilcabamba, in the District of Santa Teresa, province of La Convención, Department of Cusco. It rises to 6271 masl, despite the greatness of their double-headed mole, is one of this magnificent Andean mountains. Salkantay has been visited by mountain climbers from around the globe: French, Swiss, American, New Zealand, Polish, Austrian, German, Mexican, Slovenian, Spanish (Asturian, Basque, Andalusians, Catalans) who have crossed its always steep slopes. DAY 1: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA (3850m.) – ARANAYANIYOC (3700m.)
Early in the morning at 5:00 am we are going to pick you up from your hotel in our private transportation during three hours to Mollepata village where we stop for breakfast, then we will continue towards Soraypampa (3850 masl) it will be our departure point to the trek. We will make an stop in Salkantaypampa (4000 masl) for lunch. Then we will raise to the Salkantay top pass (4600 masl) where we stop for gifts and photos. We descend in the afternoon in Arayaniyoc village where we camp to spend the night.
Caminata: 06 horas
DAY 2: ARANAYANIYOC (3700masl) – LLUSCAMAYU (2600masl) – LUCMABAMBA (2260masl)
We leave Arayaniyoc very early after breakfast to continue descending and observing how the landscape is transformed by logging onto the warm zone where we can see fruit trees, orchids, waterfalls, Andean rivers until we reach a place for lunch Lluskamayu (2600 m). By the evening descend to Lucmabamba small village where we will do the last camp to spend the night.
Walking: 7 hours
DAY 3: LUCMABAMBA (2260m) – LLACTAPATA (2740m.) HIDROELECTRICA (1900m.) – AGUAS CALIENTES (2050m.)
After breakfast we continue walking toward Lucmabamba, here starts the (Capacnan) Word in quechua that wants to say “main inka trail”, we will ascend until the highest point of the mountain where visit LLactapata small and original archaeological inca center hidden in the time between shrubs. The place is not very known where the view is spectacular facing Machupicchu. Then descend until hydroelectric to board the train to Aguas Calientes town, we are going have a dinner at a tourist restaurant and spend the night in a hotel.

DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES (2050m.) – MACHU PICCHU (2430m.) – CUSCO
This day we will wake up very early and after breakfast, we board the first bus 5:30 AM, we will make a journey of 30 minutes arriving at the Citadel of Machu picchu at 6:00 AM and appreciate the majestic sunrise. We will have a guided tour of 2 hours to get to know the most important sites of Machu Picchu, if you want you can climb Wayna Picchu *(enter ticket is no inluded).
Finishing the guiding you have free time, 04 more hours, to walk around by yourself. You can get to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can visit the thermal baths (enter ticket is not included), after lunch in a restaurant (not included) take the train back to Ollantaytambo station where the transfer is going to wait for you to return to Cusco in a private transportation to your hotel.
* WaynaPicchu, an optional hike up to the steep peak called HuaynaPicchu, located inside the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. The trek lasts about 45 – 60 minutes upwards and we will appreciate a unique and unforgettable view of Machu Picchu from a fantastic perspective. Please note that, if you want to take this optional tour, you must contact at least 1 month in advance to reserve your entrance ticket.
