In this fantastic tour we will learn about the skills of the Inca culture with the techniques of acclimatization of crops and the salt mines to finish in the textile cradle of Cusco: Chinchero.
Maras, is a small town located on the west of Cusco at 3300 masl, we will have a spectacular view of the ponds of bright white and yellow sulfur salt and observe the process of salt extraction. These old salt mines are used from the settlers to sustenance of their families from the Inca´s time.
Moray, an impressive circular agricultural center that demonstrates the ancient Inca knowledge of high altitude crop production, is the Archaeological zone of terraces and microclimates where crop experiments were carried out at different heights. The layout of their platforms produces a gradient of microclimates with the center of the concentric circular platforms having a higher temperature and gradually reducing to the outside at lower temperatures, thus being able to simulate up to 20 different types of microclimates.
Chinchero, was an archaeological complex with terraces which allows us to understand that was a center of agricultural production in the Inca´s time, in this place we visit traditional textile centers, where traditions are kept in the dyeing and weaving, all this made handmade by the women who maintain the customs and traditions, dressed in their typical costumes.
