Cuzco Rafting – zip line, Maras – Moray to Machu Picchu 3 days
We will enjoy adrenaline that gives us the Vilcanota river in its Rapids, then we will amaze with Moray the acclimatisation agricultural Center and the salt mines in Maras. To finish with the great Inca city of Machu Picchu.
In these three fantastic days of tour we will experience the rafting by the river Urubamba with the most experienced professional in this exciting sport and with all the safe security and then enjoy zip line. On the second day we will take course towards the Sacred Valley crossing typical villages to reach the archaeological site of Moray, the salt mines of Maras and Ollantaytambo fortress then continue to the station where we will board the train heading to Aguas Calientes village of Machu Picchu. The next day could be fascinated with the sunrise in the wonder of the world.
DAY 1: RAFTING AND ZIP LINE
You will pick up at your hotel between 8:30-9 a.m. starting we will go to Oropesa a small Andean village famous for its homemade bread where we will buy some bread. Continuing we arrive at the lodge in Chuquicahuana, our professional rafting guide will give you a safety talk and provide you with all the equipment suitable for rafting. We will pass by fast II, III and IV, after exciting hours of adventure in the Vilcanota river, you reach the lodge where we will take a shower and enjoy a delicious lunch to continue our adventure down 2-Zip line fun. Relax on the return trip to Cusco after an active day. Stop it at your hotel or the city centre.
DAY 2: MARAS, MORAY AND OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES
This day we will depart to Maras, is a small town located on the west of Cusco at 3300 masl, we will have a spectacular view of the ponds of bright white and yellow sulfur salt and observe the process of salt extraction. These old salt mines are used from the settlers to sustenance of their families from the Inca´s time. We will continue our journey to Moray
Moray, an impressive circular terraces center which shows the ancient knowledge of the Inca´s agriculture at high altitude, where experiments were carried out of crops at different heights. After enjoying this trip we will go to Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch.
Then we will visit Ollantaytambo which is a monumental architectural complex of the ancient inca Empire, strategically located to dominate the Sacred Valley of the Inca. After our tour we will go to Ollantaytambo train station to board the train to the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town)
DAY 3: AGUAS CALIENTES, MACHU PICCHU TO CUSCO
This day we will wake up very early and after breakfast we will board the first bus 5:30 AM, and have a 30 minute trip arriving to the Machu Picchu citadel at 6:00 AM to appreciate the majestic sunrise. We are going to have a guiding tour of 2 hours to know the most important places of Machu Picchu, those who wish may go up to Wayna Picchu * (enter tickets are not included – reservations are required ).
After the tour you will have free time of around 04 hours to visit Machu Picchu on your own. You can go down to Aguas Calientes where you can visit the thermal baths (entrance ticket are not included), after lunch in a restaurant (not included) we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo station where the transfer of our company is going to pick you up from there in order to return to Cusco city at your hotel.
* Take an optional Wayna Picchu: hike up the steep peak called Huayna Picchu, located inside the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. The road takes about 45 – 60 minutes and we will appreciate exclusive and unforgettable views of Machu Picchu from a fantastic perspective. Please note that if you want to take this optional excursion, you must contact us at least 1 month in advance to reserve your ticket.
