Enjoy your holiday with a nice tour to take you to our classic destinations as well as a walking adventure to a natural wonder The Rainbow mountain, finishing with the visit to the inca Citadel of Machu Picchu.
ITINERARY DAY BY DAY
Our journey starts in Cuzco, visiting the archaeological and religious sites, to enjoy later on, at the second day of an walking up adventure to a natural paradise which is known as the Rainbow mountain. On the third day we are going to visit the salt mines in Maras and Moray which was a centre of experimentation for the acclimatization of agricultural products, in the afternoon we drive to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village) to see the sunrise the next day in the Holy City of the Incas.
DAY 1. CITY TOUR IN CUSCO
After being picked up from your hotel we start the city tour at the Cathedral of the Cusco, then we will we go to Qoricancha museum, the most important religious center in the inca Empire. Start the journey heading out of Cusco downtown to visit the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Amphitheatre of Q q’enqo, Pucapucara and Tambomachay, the bath of the Inca. After this fantastic experience we will return to the Cusco city to your hotel.
Day 2: Rainbow mountain
We depart very early heading Quesiyuni where we start our hike. It will take about 3 hours to reach the amazing Rainbow mountain
Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca, is a beautiful place near the Ausangate snowy glacier. The Ausangate peak is considered sacred by the people and is one of the most important deities of the ancient Cusco. Since pre-Incas time, the mountain was a place of worship to make offerings, and this tradition continues now a days.
After lunch, return to cusco.
DAY 3: MARAS, MORAY AND AGUAS CALIENTES
This day we will depart to Maras, is a small town located on the west of Cusco at 3300 masl, we will have a spectacular view of the ponds of bright white and yellow sulfur salt and observe the process of salt extraction. These old salt mines are used from the settlers to sustenance of their families from the Inca´s time. We will continue our journey to Moray
Moray, an impressive circular terraces center which shows the ancient knowledge of the Inca´s agriculture at high altitude, where experiments were carried out of crops at different heights. After enjoying this trip we will go to Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch.
Then we will visit Ollantaytambo which is a monumental architectural complex of the ancient inca Empire, strategically located to dominate the Sacred Valley of the Inca. After our tour we will go to Ollantaytambo train station to board the train to the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town)
DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES, MACHU PICCHU TO CUSCO
This day we will wake up very early and after breakfast we will board the first bus 5:30 AM, and have a 30 minute trip arriving to the Machu Picchu citadel at 6:00 AM to appreciate the majestic sunrise. We are going to have a guiding tour of 2 hours to know the most important places of Machu Picchu, those who wish may go up to Wayna Picchu * (enter tickets are not included – reservations are required ).
After the tour you will have free time of around 04 hours to visit Machu Picchu on your own. You can go down to Aguas Calientes where you can visit the thermal baths (entrance ticket are not included), after lunch in a restaurant (not included) we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo station where the transfer of our company is going to pick you up from there in order to return to Cusco city at your hotel.
* Take an optional Wayna Picchu: hike up the steep peak called Huayna Picchu, located inside the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. The road takes about 45 – 60 minutes and we will appreciate exclusive and unforgettable views of Machu Picchu from a fantastic perspective. Please note that if you want to take this optional excursion, you must contact us at least 1 month in advance to reserve your ticket.
