This hike offers stunning views of mountains, glacial lakes and towns, abundant flora and fauna, pleasant camping and is a unique opportunity  to see the local life, the fourth day, we achieve   Machu Picchu treasure.

GENERAL

Overview:

 Starting near the village Lares, approximately 40 miles north of Cusco and 35 miles east of Machu Picchu. The Lares Valley lies in the east of the Urubamba mountain range, traversing part of the Sacred Valley. Reaching the start of the trek requires a bus or van trip of approximately 5 hours from the village of Lares. The Lares trek route transverses typical Peruvian Andean mountain areas.

The hike will take you through stunning scenery of mountain begining with a relaxing bath in the thermal waters of the lares which are medicinal, to continue  on the overpasses, and will spend two nights near the traditional villages of the Peru where you will experience the interaction with local communities and see their way of life. At the end of our trip we will have the pleasure to see the wonder of the world: Machu Picchu!

Day by day itinerary

Day 1: Cusco to Lares Town & Trek to Wakawasi (3, 850m)

Early in the morning collect you from your respective hotel at 6:00 in the morning and we will travel by private bus to Lares village (2, 900 masl). In this place you can enjoy medicinal thermal baths (enter tickets are not included) before starting the 6 hours walk. We will begin our ascent in zigzag to the village of Wakawasi (3, 850 masl) with views of the glaciers, wildlife and local communities. Our camp at the Wakawasi community will give us the opportunity to get to know local families living in harmony with nature.

Day 2: Huacawasi – Sóndor – step Sacsayllame – Aruray Cocha – Yurak Cocha – Miski Unu

Early in the morning we will appreciate children on their way to school. After a nutritive breakfast we will begin the walking to the highest point for 4 hours to the pass of Sacsayllame in 4400masl or 14435 feet. During this hike you can see huge mountains and breathtaking views of agricultural lands. Please note that we will reach great heights and the weather can be very cold. After reaching the highest point we will descend and see a beautiful lagoon and then we are going to walk at the side of the River, you can enjoy the landscape while our chefs prepare a delicious lunch for you. Continuing we are going to descend even more through the forest where you can see the typical “queuña” trees from the Peruvian andes. This tour will take you approximately 1 hour before reaching our camp at Miski Unu (3550 m / 11646f). A wonderful location in the middle of nowhere where you will receive a hot tea and some snacks upon arrival before dinner.

Day 3: Miski Unu – Queshuarchalloc – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

Today will be another spectacular day of walking downhill across different forests. You can enjoy the richness of the biodiversity of flora and fauna during this 3-hour that end in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will enjoy our last lunch in Queshuarchalloc where we will say goodbye to the riders and chefs. After lunch we will take our private transportation to the town of Ollantaytambo, where we are going to have a tour in the archaeological site after the tour we go to the station to board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village) we will spend the night in a hostel or hotel of your choice.

Day 4: Explore Machu Picchu and return to Cuzco

This day we will wake up very early and after breakfast, we board the first bus 5:30 AM, we will make a journey of 30 minutes arriving at the Citadel of Machu picchu at 6:00 AM and appreciate the majestic sunrise. We will have a guided tour of 2 hours to get to know the most important sites of Machu Picchu, if you want you can climb Wayna Picchu *(enter ticket is no inluded).

Finishing the guiding you have free time,  04 more hours,  to walk around by yourself.  You can get to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can visit the thermal baths (enter ticket is not included), after lunch in a restaurant (not included) take the train back to Ollantaytambo station where the transfer is going to wait for you to return to Cusco in a private transportation to your hotel.

* WaynaPicchu, an optional hike up to the steep peak called HuaynaPicchu, located inside the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. The trek lasts about 45 – 60 minutes upwards and we will appreciate a unique and unforgettable view of Machu Picchu from a fantastic perspective. Please note that, if you want to take this optional tour, you must contact at least 1 month in advance to reserve your entrance ticket.

Salkantay Trek Machupicchu 4days

SALKANTAY – MACHUPICCHU 4D/3N

Salkantay is a mountain in Peru, located in the Cordillera Vilcabamba, in the District of Santa Teresa, province of La Convención, Department of Cusco. It rises to 6271 masl, despite the greatness of their double-headed mole, is one of this magnificent Andean mountains. Salkantay has been visited by mountain climbers from around the globe: French, Swiss, American, New Zealand, Polish, Austrian, German, Mexican, Slovenian, Spanish (Asturian, Basque, Andalusians, Catalans) who have crossed its always steep slopes. DAY 1: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA (3850m.) – ARANAYANIYOC (3700m.)

Early in the morning at 5:00 am we are going to pick you up from your hotel in our private transportation during three hours to Mollepata village where we stop for breakfast, then we will continue towards Soraypampa (3850 masl) it will be our departure point to the trek. We will make an stop in Salkantaypampa (4000 masl) for lunch. Then we will raise to the Salkantay top pass (4600 masl) where we stop for gifts and photos. We descend in the afternoon in Arayaniyoc village where we camp to spend the night.

Caminata: 06 horas

DAY 2: ARANAYANIYOC (3700masl) – LLUSCAMAYU (2600masl) – LUCMABAMBA (2260masl)

We leave Arayaniyoc very early after breakfast to continue descending and observing how the landscape is transformed by logging onto the warm zone where we can see fruit trees, orchids, waterfalls, Andean rivers until we reach a place for lunch Lluskamayu (2600 m). By the evening descend to Lucmabamba small village where we will do the last camp to spend the night.

Walking: 7 hours

DAY 3: LUCMABAMBA (2260m)  – LLACTAPATA (2740m.) HIDROELECTRICA (1900m.) – AGUAS CALIENTES (2050m.)

After breakfast we continue walking toward Lucmabamba,  here starts the (Capacnan) Word  in quechua that wants to say “main inka trail”, we will ascend until the highest point of the mountain where visit LLactapata small and original archaeological inca center hidden in the time between shrubs. The place is not very known where the view is spectacular facing Machupicchu. Then descend until hydroelectric to board the train to Aguas Calientes town, we are going have a dinner at a tourist restaurant and spend the night in a hotel.

Walk: 6 hours

DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES (2050m.) – MACHU PICCHU (2430m.) – CUSCO

INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU 4 D/3N MYSTIC

Ranked as the most important walk of Latin America and one of the 5 best treks of the world. We will appreciate the fantastic archaeological sites in conjunction with a wide variety of typical flora and fauna before we arrive to the wonder of the world: Machu Picchu.

Overview

The expedition will take you through a group of paths of the Tawantinsuyu which was a system of enormous distances in the Inca civilization that linked the major coast cities and roads of the mountains of the Peru.

The inca trail that leads to the sacred city of the incas: Machu Picchu, is a cultural legacy of valuable importance, was the ancient form of communication where was not posible the Access of the Spaniards during the conquest, in our journey we are going to walk for 4 days by the mountains and the high jungle of Cusco, where we will appreciate the flora, wildlife and archaeological sites of great importance because they were resting centers on the way to our cultural patrimony of the humanity.

ROUTE

DAY 1.-CUSCO – PISKACUCHO – WAYLLABAMBA

We are going to pick you up from your hotel in our comfortable private bus then pass through the towns of Chinchero, Urubamba to have a delicious breakfast at Ollantaytambo in “Sacred Valley of the Incas” continue one more hour travelling to Piskacucho (82 kilometre), which is the control point.

We start our hike Llactapata an archaeological zone that stands out for its terraces.  After a short walk we have lunch at Tarayok, after a brief rest we will start our walk again toward Wayllabamba. At this place we will have dinner and we will be able to spend the night in our camps.

DAY 2.-WAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA – PAQAYMAYU

After breakfast, we start our walk to the highest point of the Inca Trail, where we will observe different microclimates from Yuncachimpa rainforest to the mountain of Warmiwañusca 4200 meters above sea level, at this beautiful viewpoint we can admire amazing landscapes.  After crossing this pass we take some time for lunch, after break, we start again the walk towards Paqaymayu where we will have our second camp.

DAY 3.-PAQAYMAYU – CHAQUICOCHA – WIÑAYWAYNA

After breakfast we will climb for one hour approximately to the archaeological complex of Runkurakay. Then we cross the pass of Runkurakay 3941 meters above sea level, continuing the walk we descend towards the archaeological site of Sayakmarca, where our professional guide is going to explain the culture and history of the place, we will continue to Chaquicocha where we are going to enjoy a delicious lunch, following the walk we should pass by Phuyupatamarca, high forest until we reach our third campsite in Wiñaywayna 2700 meters above sea level

DAY 4.-WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Very early in the morning and after breakfast we start the Trek for around 2 hours toward the sacred city of Machu Picchu,  we should wait at the control enter to register our entry to the sanctuary, then we will cross the path to the Inti PunKu (called door of the sun) where we will have a time to relax and take pictures.

We descend to the sacred sanctuary for 45 minutes where we are going to start a guiding tour of 2 hours to know the most important places of Machu Picchu, those who wish may go up to Wayna Picchu * (enter tickets are not included – reservations are required ).

After the tour you will have free time of around 04 hours to visit Machu Picchu on your own. You can go down to Aguas Calientes where you can visit the thermal baths (entrance ticket are not included), after lunch in a restaurant (not included) we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo station where the transfer of our company is going to pick you up from there in order to return to Cusco city at your hotel.

* Take an optional Wayna Picchu: hike up the steep peak called Huayna Picchu, located inside the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. The road takes about 45 – 60 minutes and we will appreciate exclusive and unforgettable views of Machu Picchu from a fantastic perspective. Please note that if you want to take this optional excursion, you must contact us at least 1 month in advance to reserve your ticket.

Note:

The camps are subject to authorization of the management unit of Machu Picchu and the availability of spaces determined by the Ministry of culture, therefore, the aforementioned camps are for reference.

Day by day Itinerary:

Day 1: CUSCO – CHACHABAMBA – WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES.

Early morning we are going to pick you up from your hotel in  our private transportation at 4:00 am to make our tour  INCA TRAIL getting the train station in Ollantaytambo we  leave by train to KM 104 Chachabamba, the starting point of our trek. after 4 hours of walk, we reach Wiñaywayna (2,700 masl / 8,694 ft.) which shows a perfect example of what was the buildings at the time of the Incas, as along of the mountain lie slopes of large number of circular terraces, where our professional guide will explain the culture and history of the place. After 10-minute walk we will enjoy a deserved box lunch.

In the afternoon we will continue walking to Inti Punku (Sun gate), where we will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu. After the walk we will take the tourist bus to Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, where we will have a tourist dinner and spend the night in a hotel of the category of your choice.

Day 2: Departure from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu Explore and return to Cuzco.

This day we will wake up very early and after breakfast we will board the first bus 5:30 AM, and have a 30 minute trip arriving to the Machu Picchu citadel at 6:00 AM to appreciate the majestic sunrise. We are going to have a guiding tour of 2 hours to know the most important places of Machu Picchu, those who wish may go up to Wayna Picchu * (enter tickets are not included – reservations are required ).
